I love everything about the holidays. I sewed Ami's Tinkerbell costume last weekend. This weekend was so much fun. We were able to dress up at school on Friday and then Friday night we had our church's "Pumpkin Patch." Last night we went trick-or-treating to our neighbor's houses and then we came home to pass out candy. We were supposed to go to another carnival but Ami wanted to stay home and see all the people that came to our door. We easily went through 75 "customers." Now we begin thinking about Thanksgiving and Christmas. My daughter is already asking about the order of the holidays and wants to know when Ground Hog's Day is. No we don't celebrate that, but last year at Pre-School it seemed to really impress her. Now she can't wait for ALL of the holidays.

Faith of a Child

I'm always amazed at the faith of my daughter. Not only do I get great hand made gifts and cards, I get to watch her grow into a wonderful young lady. She is so patient waiting for "our baby" to come home. She has been talking about having a baby brother or sister for over 2 years now. It will be a dream come true for both of us when we do finally get to bring home a new little one. So on this Father's Day, I feel very lucky to have one beautiful child to raise, and I hope that next year we will have an addition to our family. I pray for all of the birthparents this Father's Day that are having to make decisions about the future of their unborn child. May they feel peace beyond understanding.

Love

This morning on the way to summer school my daughter was telling me that she loved me. She said, "I love you mommy," to which I of course replied, "I love you too." Then she said, "And I love me also, and I love you, and God loves us too. We all love each other and we can also love ourselves." - Wow that is pretty incredible considering she isn't even 5 years old yet. I'm always amazed at how much she can learn. I'm so glad that she knows that she can love herself. She saw her Pre-K teacher this afternoon and gave her a big hug. The teacher said, "I'm really going to miss her." We still have 4 weeks of summer school left and the teacher is already thinking about how she is going to miss my daughter. I think that is a testament of her wonderful ability to love. I pray that I will always be able to teach my daughter (and future daughter or son) the gift of love.

Home Visits Complete

Saturday we completed our home visits with our social worker. I've also taken my CPR, infant and child first aid course. I'm just waiting to read my final report which my social worker said should be complete in about 2 weeks. Now we just wait to be matched with birthparents.

My daughter and I bought a bassinet just in case we are chosen quickly and don't have much time to prepare. This bassinet has music, a night light, it massages, and you can record a message. Ami has already recorded messages for the baby. She will say things like, "I love you baby." or "Mommy and I love you - so go to sleep." It is so much fun to watch how much faith Ami has that this baby will become part of our family.

This weekend we had my 6 week old niece in the car. She was crying and I told Ami that babies do a lot of crying. She said she knew. I asked her how she will feel when she has a baby brother or sister that cries. She said, "It will be ok because I will just sing to her." So she started singing to my niece and sure enough . . . the baby stopped crying. Ami is going to be an awesome big sister. This is a picture of Ami and our friend's baby.
